Terms and Conditions — Cannes Lux Car Rental

Cannes Lux Car Rental operates the website cannesluxurycarrental.com, offering self-drive luxury, sports, convertible, SUV, electric and supercar rental, chauffeur-driven hire, wedding car hire and airport delivery in Cannes. These terms govern all bookings made through the site, by email, by phone or by WhatsApp. If you have questions about a booking or these terms, contact us at [email protected].

The website does not take instant online bookings. You send us an enquiry through the form, by email, phone or WhatsApp, giving your pick-up and drop-off dates, the car you are interested in and any other details. We reply with a written quote stating the car, dates, price and conditions for your trip. A booking only becomes binding once we have confirmed it in writing and, where applicable, received the payment or deposit arrangement agreed in the quote.

Because availability of each car changes constantly across our fleet of 91 vehicles, an enquiry or quote does not reserve a specific car until we send you written confirmation.

Day rates start from €210 and vary by car, season, duration and any extras such as chauffeur service, wedding arrangements or airport delivery. The price stated in your written quote is the price that applies to your booking; it includes the items listed in that quote, such as the included mileage, insurance as described below, and any delivery arrangements agreed with you.

Anything not listed in the quote, including extra kilometres, additional drivers, fuel shortfall, fines, tolls or optional services requested after confirmation, is charged separately.

Bookings are not paid for on the website itself. Payment terms, including any deposit or balance due before pick-up, are set out in your written quote and agreed with you before the booking is confirmed.

Separately from the booking payment, a refundable security deposit is held on a credit card in the main driver's name at handover. The deposit ranges from €1,500 to €250,000 depending on the car you have booked. It is released within 14 days after the car is returned, once we have checked for any fines, tolls or damage.

You may cancel free of charge up to 7 days before the scheduled pick-up. If you cancel between 7 days and 24 hours before pick-up, 30% of the total booking value is retained. If you cancel within 24 hours of pick-up, or do not show up, 100% of the booking value is retained. These tiers apply however you notify us of the cancellation, provided it is confirmed in writing.

Changes to dates, car choice or other details are treated as a new enquiry and are subject to availability; they may affect the price stated in your original quote.

Under EU consumer law, the usual 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts does not apply to leisure services booked for a specific date or period, such as car rental (Directive 2011/83/EU, Article 16(l); in France, Article L221-28 of the Consumer Code). This means that once a booking is confirmed, the cancellation tiers set out above apply instead of a statutory withdrawal period, and we ask you to read them before confirming your dates.

We may need to cancel or change a confirmed booking because of weather conditions that make driving unsafe, a technical or mechanical issue with the booked car, or an event of force majeure beyond our control. In these cases we will tell you as soon as we reasonably can and offer either an alternative car from our fleet, new dates, or a full refund of any amount already paid for the affected booking. We are not liable for any further loss arising from a cancellation made for these reasons.

The main driver must be at least 21 years old with a minimum of 2 years' driving licence; for supercars, the minimum is 25 years old with at least 3 years' licence. At handover, the main driver must present a valid driving licence, a passport or national identity card, and a credit card in their own name for the security deposit. Drivers holding a licence issued outside the EU may be asked to also present an International Driving Permit.

Any additional driver must meet the same age and licence conditions and be declared to us in advance.

The car is handed over and returned at the time and place agreed in your written confirmation, whether that is a hotel on the Croisette, Mandelieu Airport, Cannes station or another location. Timing around festival weeks and other high-traffic periods in Cannes is built into the schedule we agree with you, and we ask that you keep us informed of any delay to your flight, train or driving time so that handover can be adjusted.

The car is checked with you at handover and again at return for condition, mileage and fuel level. Any discrepancy found at return that was not noted at handover is charged to the main driver's card used for the deposit.

Each booking includes 200 km per day. Kilometres driven beyond this allowance are charged at the rate stated in your quote.

The car must be returned with the same fuel level as at handover. If fuel is missing on return, we charge the cost of the missing fuel plus a refuelling service fee.

Any traffic fine, toll or parking charge incurred during the rental period is the renter's responsibility. Where such a charge is sent to us after the car is returned, we pass it on to the main driver together with an administrative fee.

Insurance is included in your booking as described in your written quote. In the event of at-fault damage during the rental, the renter is liable for the insurance excess stated in that quote; this is the amount that may be deducted from the security deposit.

Driving abroad, taking the car on a track day, or driving off-road all require our prior written approval; doing so without approval may void insurance cover for the incident concerned. Smoking and pets are not allowed in any of our cars. Using a car for any purpose other than ordinary road driving by the declared driver or driving the car in breach of these conditions is treated as unauthorised use and may result in the loss of insurance cover and of the security deposit.

We are liable for the car being roadworthy, correctly insured as stated in your quote, and delivered in the condition described at handover. We are not liable for indirect losses, such as missed events, connecting travel or business losses, arising from a delay or change caused by weather, mechanical issues or force majeure as described above.

If you are not satisfied with any part of your booking, write to us at [email protected] describing what happened; we will look into it and reply directly. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have as a consumer under French law that cannot be excluded by contract.

The content of cannesluxurycarrental.com, including the description of our fleet, photographs and text, is provided to help you choose a car and plan your rental in Cannes; it must not be copied or reused for another business without our written consent. The enquiry form and any links to our profiles on Google, Tripadvisor or Trustpilot are provided for your convenience and do not themselves create a booking.

These terms are governed by French law. Any dispute relating to a booking or to these terms that cannot be resolved directly with us is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the French courts, without prejudice to any mandatory right you have to bring proceedings before the courts of your own place of residence if you are a consumer.

We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes to our service; the version published on the website at the time you make an enquiry is the one that applies to your booking.
