Cookie Policy — Cannes Lux Car Rental
Last updated:
This page explains how cannesluxurycarrental.com uses cookies and similar storage technologies when you browse our fleet, request a quote for a self-drive or chauffeur-driven car in Cannes, or tap through to WhatsApp. It applies to every visitor of the site, whether you are comparing a convertible for a run to Grasse or arranging airport delivery at Mandelieu.
Storage used on this site
- Cookie notice preference (local storage)
- Remembers that you closed the cookie notice banner. Stays in your browser until you clear it; contains no contact details.
- Selected car (session storage)
- Remembers which car you clicked so the enquiry form can be prefilled. Deleted automatically when you close the tab or send the form.
- Visit identifiers (local storage)
- Random visitor and session identifiers used only for our own first-party visit measurement. Expire 30 days after your last visit; you can clear them at any time in your browser.
- Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com)
- Loads the typefaces used on the site. Google receives your IP address when the font files are requested. Sets no cookie for us.
- intl-tel-input via jsDelivr CDN
- Loads the phone-number formatting library used in the enquiry and airport-delivery forms. jsDelivr receives your IP address when the script is requested. Sets no cookie for us.
Cookies and similar technologies
A cookie is a small file a website can place in your browser to recognise it later. Local storage and session storage work similarly but stay only in your browser rather than travelling back to a server with every request. We refer to all three together as "storage" below.
What this site does not do
cannesluxurycarrental.com places no cookie of any kind. We run no third-party analytics, advertising or social-media tracker, and no advertising identifier is created or shared. Nothing is sold, and nothing is used to build an advertising profile of you.
How we count visits
We measure traffic with a script we built and serve ourselves, not a third-party analytics product. It records pages viewed, time spent on each page, the referring website, any campaign parameters present in the link you followed (UTM tags or an ad click id), device type, browser, operating system, screen size, browser language, and the country worked out from your IP address — the IP address itself is not kept.
This measurement relies on the local-storage identifiers listed in the table above, which let us tell separate visits apart without storing your IP address. If you send an enquiry or tap a phone or WhatsApp link, that action is linked to the same visit so we know which channel it came through; it is never linked to a profile built from other sites.
Browser storage entries
Beyond the visit-measurement identifiers, the site uses two small entries described in the table: one remembers that you dismissed the cookie notice, and one temporarily remembers which car you clicked so the enquiry form opens pre-filled. Neither carries your name, email or phone number, and the car-selection entry disappears as soon as the tab closes or you submit the form.
Fonts, form library and WhatsApp
Two requests leave your browser for technical resources rather than tracking: Google Fonts supplies the typefaces on the page, and the jsDelivr content delivery network supplies the phone-number formatting library used in our forms. Both providers see your IP address as part of the normal request for a file, the way any server does when it is asked to send something, but neither sets a cookie for us.
The WhatsApp buttons on the site do nothing until you click them. The click itself is recorded in our own booking system — page URL, referrer, language and the prefilled message text — for the same reason we log any enquiry, before the browser opens WhatsApp. Once the conversation moves into WhatsApp, it runs on Meta's platform under WhatsApp's own privacy policy, outside our control.
The footer links to our Google, Tripadvisor and Trustpilot profiles are plain links. Nothing from those platforms loads on our page until you actively click through to them.
Managing storage and future changes
You can view, block or delete local storage, session storage and any cookie through your browser's settings; this usually sits under "Privacy" or "Site settings" and can be applied to cannesluxurycarrental.com specifically or to all sites. Clearing storage will reset the cookie-notice preference and any prefilled car selection, and will start a new visit-measurement identifier.
If we ever introduce an optional cookie, for a feature such as live chat or a booking-payment tool we do not currently use, we will update this page first and ask for your consent before it is set, in line with Article 82 of the French Data Protection Act and the guidelines of the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL, www.cnil.fr). Questions about this page can be sent to [email protected], and you may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL.
